Jay-Z will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show on February 14 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The announcement confirms the rapper as the featured artist for the event, a role he previously declined.

The NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation released the news on Monday night. Roger Goodell, the NFL Commissioner, stated that his primary condition for the partnership with Roc Nation was for Jay-Z to take the stage whenever he felt the moment was right.

In 2019, Roc Nation began advising the NFL on entertainment productions. At that time, Jay-Z told Goodell, "If this is about me performing at the Super Bowl, then we can just end this conversation now." Seven years later, the artist has agreed to headline the show.

The decision follows a recent concert run celebrating the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt. Jay-Z held three sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium, with additional performances in London and Paris. He concluded the tour over the weekend at SoFi Stadium, the same venue where he will now perform for the Super Bowl.

In a statement, Jay-Z described the milestone as a continuation of his career. He said, "From 'Reasonable Doubt' to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey. Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true."

Roc Nation will executive produce the halftime show, with Hamish Hamilton serving as director. Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, has won 25 Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. His wife, Beyoncé, has previously performed at two Super Bowls.

The league's recent halftime shows have received critical recognition. Bad Bunny's performance in February won a record seven Emmy Awards, while Kendrick Lamar's show received a nomination for music direction last year.
